Oil filters should have strong filtering ability, low flow resistance, a long service life, and other properties. In engine lubrication systems, there are generally three kinds of filters. The first is the oil filter, installed before the oil pump, to prevent large particles of impurities from entering the oil pump but also to prevent early wear of the oil pump; the second is the crude oil filter, used to filter the larger size of the oil (diameter of 0.05–0.1 mm) impurities; it has less resistance to the flow of oil and is generally installed in series between the oil pump and the main oil channel; it belongs to the full flow filter.
Now the engine commonly uses a rotary-mount disposable oil filter, but some models also use a paper-core filter, which plays the role of filtering with special oil filter paper. This filter paper is a kind of microporous filter paper that can filter the impurities in the oil at a particle size of 0.05-0.1mm or so, and the flow resistance of the oil is small. In order to ensure the maximum filtration area within the minimum volume and improve the stiffness of the filter element, it is generally folded into a paper fan or corrugated shape and glued together with the upper and lower end covers by heat curing treatment. In the oil filter, the amount of filter paper is strictly calculated to ensure that no clogging will occur during the oil replacement cycle, but there will not be too much margin. If more than this cycle is too long, the oil filter will have a higher risk of blockage, especially in some models where the oil filter is very small; if more than the oil replacement cycle is too long, it cannot play much of a role. Therefore, the oil and oil filter must be replaced in time.In addition, there are two important valves on the oil filter: the check valve and the bypass valve. Check valve is a kind of check valve; it can let the oil into the oil filter, but it cannot flow out of here; its role is to prevent the engine after flout oil flow back to the oil pan, to ensure that the engine directly forms oil pressure after starting, as far as possible to reduce the engine dry friction time; A bypass valve is a kind of relief valve; when the oil pressure is too high, it will open, and the oil does not filter into the main oil channel. Its role is when the filter paper is blocked for emergency oil transport, to prevent the engine from losing lubrication. The opening pressure of the bypass valve is carefully calculated. Too much or too little pressure will lead to poor lubrication performance in the engine.
Therefore, the engine oil filter is a very important part, and its internals are also very precise, not as we imagine that only filtering effect is necessary. At the same time, replacing a high-quality authentic oil filter is very necessary. However, if you accidentally change a fake, inferior oil filter, the consequences will be what?
Fake or inferior oil filters are inferior in three main ways. The first is the quality of filter paper; fake oil filter paper's ability to filter impurities is relatively poor; filter paper that is too dense will affect the normal flow of oil; and filter paper that is too loose will lead to a large number of unfiltered impurities continuing to random oil flow, which over a long time will lead to internal parts of the engine experiencing dry friction or excessive wear; some oil filter paper strength is too low; a long time will deform the paper, reducing the filter area; The second is the opening pressure of the bypass valve; if the bypass valve pressure is too low, under normal pressure, the bypass valve will open, resulting in oil entering the main oil channel without filtering; if the bypass valve pressure is too high, the filter paper failure and blockage do not open, oil cannot enter the lubricating oil channel, and the engine has the risk of losing lubrication; The third is that there is no check valve or that the check valve is poorly sealed. After stopping, the oil will flow back to the oil pan, and the oil pressure will be established slowly when the cold car starts, resulting in a long dry friction time for the engine. Therefore, the use of fake or poor quality oil filter consequences are very serious.
